Overall, it is evident from the given histogram that both the IT sector and the service industry showed upward trends during the given time period. The contribution of the IT industry towards the GDP of the UK was always higher than its counterpart in all the years, although the ratio between the two fluctuated.
In the year 1992, the IT sector's GDP contribution was just over 6% whereas the Service Industry was close to 4%. In the following year, the former rose to about 8% and the latter also went up to cross 6%. But, in the year 1996, the IT sector registered a slight drop in its GDP contribution at under 8% while the other one gradually continued its increasing path.
During 1998, there was a sharp jump in the GDP ratio of the IT sector which rose to 12% and further at above 14% in the final year. The other sector, however, continued its upward journey and contributed just under 8% in the year 1998 and slightly over 8% in 2000.
