IELTS General Writing Task 1 (Letter Writing)
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You forgot an item of clothing at the hotel where you stayed recently. Write a letter to the hotel manager.
In your letter, you should tell:
- when you stayed and in what room
- describe the item you left behind
- what you would like the manager to do about it.
Here's a sample answer
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to apprise you about my recent stay at your hotel, The Leela, in Gurgaon from 01st July 2021 for 5 nights. My room number was 2005 which I believe was on 20th floor. I must say that the room was extremely spacious and it felt like I was in my own house.
During my stay, I used your laundry service on multiple occasions and I was very happy to receive prompt replies every time. I had to checkout in rush on 05th July as my flight got pre-poned and I forgot to pick my business suit which I gave for a wash that morning. It was a royal blue Gucci 3-piece suit with a tie as well. I am attaching my picture in that suit along this letter.
I would really appreciate if you would be kind enough to courier it to my residential address anytime this week. It was gifted to me by my wife on our last anniversary and it not only carries emotional feeling, but it is also my favorite suit when I have to attend my business meetings. Please let me know whatever are the charges paid for the package and I will transfer them to your bank account immediately, otherwise, you can send me the payment link for the same. My address is the same as that I provided at the time of check-in, however, I am attaching my business card as well for reference.
