IELTS General Writing Task 1 (Letter Writing)
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You have received a letter from your bank, asking you to acknowledge receipt of a new bank card. However, the card was missing from the envelope. Write a letter to the bank's head office. In your letter:
- explain why you are writing
- express concern about the missing card
- ask them what they intend to do
Here's a sample answer
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter with reference to the missing debit card linked to my newly opened savings account number 259899735646 with your esteemed bank. I have received the account opening kit which contained all the necessary information about the bank and my cheque book also, but, I found that it was torn from the side and the debit card along with the PIN was missing.
I am extremely worried about this since my account has a lot of funds and the debit card was a Titanium without any spending limit. If this falls in wrong hands, I may lose all my hard earned money and it would not be a good thing to happen. Also, I am worried that the channel of delivery which your Bank uses is not very secured and I am not at all confident maintaining my relations with your bank in the long run.
First and foremost, I would like to block this card with immediate effect and any loss of funds would be the responsibility of the bank. Secondly, I would like to enquire about your security measures which you undertake while delivering sensitive information to the customers since this can lead to potential loses. Thirdly, I also want to know what steps are you going to take to rectify this situation and deliver the promises which you had made at the time of account opening.
Yours faithfully,
Harsimran Singh
